Selection Criteria

How teams advance from registration through to the onsite Chennai Regional Contest.

Selection Procedure for On-site Contest

  • There are 120 slots available for the Onsite contest.
  • 4 teams are reserved for teams having all female contestants.

Selection Criteria for 116 teams

  1. Discard all teams who could not solve a single problem.
  2. Rank all teams based on the performance in the Preliminary Round.
  3. Select top 20 (twenty) ranked teams for Onsite Contest.
  4. Remove the above 20 teams from the Rank List selected in step 3.
  5. Select the top ranked team from each distinct school or institute.
  6. Arrange all these school/institute wise top ranked teams with respect to their performance in the Preliminary Round.
  7. Select teams from the top as long as the all general slots are available and the list is not exhausted. (this is for the remaining 96 slots)
  8. In case it is found that the number of selected teams in this process is less than the available General slots, remove selected teams from the Rank List and repeat step 5.

Selection in All Female Slot

The 04 reserved slots for all female team will be filled in a similar manner after selecting 116 teams for the General Slots (i.e., selecting the best all women's team from each institute).

# All female team: A team consisting entirely of female contestants. The gender of the coach does not need to be female. Slots for such "All Female Teams" are reserved to encourage and promote the participation of female contestants in the ICPC.
